With little time and effort, you can restore your water dispenser to its pristine condition. That’s right! This step by step tutorial will teach you an amazing DIY solution that is proven effective. Watch the video tutorial below, or continue reading down for the complete written instructions.
To start, remove the water line, then start to descale. Add some white vinegar to a cup, place it as high as you can, then put the tube inside. While doing this, have someone help run water through the entire tube until you smell the vinegar from the water spigot. Once you smell the vinegar, stop, and let that set for about five minutes to descale the inside of the line.
Now, start descaling the dispenser panel. Grab a small pipe cleaner, dip it in some white vinegar, then brush the water spigot inside. Next, soak a paper towel in some vinegar, stick it to the spout, and let it sit for 15 minutes to break down hard water.
Now, remove the towel from the spout, then spray the DIY mix (1 cup white vinegar, 1 cup water, 1 tsp Dawn dish soap). Wipe it off with a damp towel, making sure to remove any remaining hard water. After this, connect the water line and run clean water through the pipe to remove all the vinegar. Lastly, change the water filter.
