This DIY candy dot earring project is really a fun, cheap and easy DIY for teens. They really look darling, this will keep those teens busy all day long!
I was walking through the craft aisles at Michael’s with my nephews when I happened to see colored glue sticks. I’m not sure if these are a new thing or something I just never noticed before, but the second I did see them, I kept thinking of this DIY necklace I saw earlier. Now when I first saw the necklace I thought it was genius even if it was not exactly to my taste. But I guess some part of my brain filed it away as an awesome concept to play with later. When I got home I loaded up my hot glue gun with my metallic gold, bronze and silver specialty sticks and soon realized that I was having the most difficult darn time drawing with the hot glue gun. The pressure it takes to push the trigger for an extended period of time was making my handshake, badly. So drawing anything was totally out of the realm of decent looking ideas for me. So I started swirling the glue and came up with these cool DIY glue gun rings! 😉
I have been swooning over all of the simple yet gorgeous rope baskets. I knew I had to figure out an easy way to make one. I went to my local fabric warehouse and found the perfect “rope” – natural cotton piping. I spent $6 on cording for this good sized basket. This piping is used for making cording for sofas and pillows! Traditional rope baskets are made using a sewing machine, but I opted for the easy method – hot glue gun. Using glue will not make the basket as secure and heavy duty as a rope basket that has been sewn. Our basket makes a perfect place to hold your knitting projects or stuffed animals for blankets. I dressed up the basket by adding leather handles.
I love Crate & Barrel and I recently had a yearning for their Spin Hurricane Vases from the catalog. However, even the small one retails for $24.95, so here is The Budget Decorator’s hack of the Crate and Barrel Spin Vase that only cost a little over a dollar to make. This DIY hack is so great, it definitely qualifies for the DIY Hack Hall Of Fame! All you need is a glue gun and a steady hand!
I saw this idea for DIY Halloween chalk paint bottles on Pinterest and I knew they were perfect for the mini haunted house I made in my dining room. I got some mini plastic skulls from Michael’s craft store and used some terracotta plant saucers as stabilizing pedestals at each end. I glued all of them together and used some grey metal colored spray paint I had from painting the railing on my new deck and it gave them a very rich polished look. I arranged them on what I called Dracula’s dining table with some other Halloween decorations and lovely treats that thrilled and chilled my guests, all for under the ten dollar mark. So if you are into spooky DIY crafts, this might be a good fit for you. These DIY chalk paint bottles could always be fun at Halloween, or all year if you like the spooky look.
