Hidden Log Cabin Jelly Roll Quilt Pattern

It’s one of my favorite patterns to make, especially if I have a gorgeous printed jelly roll. I love gifting it to friends or family on special occasions and they always love the variations I make with different prints of jelly roll. Try making this today by following the steps in the video tutorial below.
Materials:
- jelly roll
- rotary cutter
- cutting mat
- ruler
- iron, for pressing
Directions:
Step 1
Subcut the jelly roll into one 2 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ rectangle, two 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles, two 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles, and two 2 1/2″ squares. Repeat these steps with all of the 42-count jelly roll strips. Once you cut everything out, select one 2 1/2″ square. Then, in a different print, select one 2 1/2″ square and one 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangle in the same print. In your third print, select one 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangle and one 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangle. Lastly, in your fourth print, select one 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangle and one 2 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ rectangle.
Step 2
Sew everything back together. First, sew the 2 1/2″ square blocks together, then take the matching 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangle and sew it to the bottom of the unit. Next, sew the third print in a 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangle on the left side of the unit followed by the matching 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangle on top of that unit. Then, sew the fourth print to the left and top side of the unit. Repeat these steps until you have a total of 42 8 1/2″ quilt blocks. Once done, lay them out in a 6 x 7 block layout while rotating each block 90 degrees. Sew the blocks together to form rows, then sew those rows together to complete the quilt top.
