This half-square table topper is definitely one of my favorite projects. I found this pattern on Liza Decor‘s YouTube channel and instantly fell in love with it. It’s super easy to make and only uses half-square triangles and little squares. I know a lot of you will love this design, too, so I am sharing it here.

If you have some leftover half-square triangles or fabric scraps from a past project, take them out and turn them into this beautiful table topper. It will be perfect for your dining or center table. Watch the video below for full instructions.
Start making half-square triangles. Take two squares and place them on top of each other, right sides together. Draw a diagonal from corner to corner. Sew 1/4″ away from the line on both sides. Cut directly on the line, then press each one open. Trim into 3″ x 3″ squares. Repeat with other squares.
You will need 12 HSTs.
Get the 4 pieces of 3.75″ x 3.75″ squares and cut them in half diagonally.
Take 4 pieces of HSTs and arrange them like a four-patch, forming a diamond in the center. Set the remaining HSTs into pairs, then place them on each side of the four-patch. Take the 3″ squares and place them on the corners.
Get the triangles and arrange them in pairs, forming a bigger triangle, then place them on each side of the block. Make sure the lines are aligned. See the photo below for reference.
Sew the pieces in rows first. Once done, sew the rows together to make the block.
Sew the block on top of the batting, then quilt. Trim excess.
Take a square background fabric big enough for the block. Fold it in half and cut. Sew the two pieces together, leaving an opening in the center. Place the block on top, right side down. Sew along the edges, then cut the excess.
Flip it right side out through the opening.
