One of my favorite quilt patterns to do is this time flies quilt from Missouri Star on Youtube. This quilt project is really fun to make, and true to its name, time really passes when you’re doing this quilt. So if you’re looking for a quilt pattern that you can gift, this one is perfect! Watch the video tutorial below to learn the step-by-step instructions.
First, make the hourglass block. Choose two squares from your pack. Then, draw one diagonal line across one square. Put it on top of the other square, right sides together, and sew a 1/4″ seam on both sides of the line. Cut it directly on the line afterward and press open. Next, put the half-square triangles’ right sides together on opposite sides, light to dark, and dark to light, then, draw a line across. After this, take your ruler, then draw a line across the opposite of the seam way. Sew a 1/4″ on both sides of the line, then cut it in half and square it to 8 & 1/2″.

Now, make four sets of eight half-square triangles. Choose four fabrics and four contrasting fabrics from the pack. Draw an X and sew on both sides of both of the lines. Next, cut it in half vertically and horizontally. Square them up afterward, then press open.
Now, start laying your quilt top. Sew your half-square triangles into flying geese. Make several sets of these. After this, lay your hourglass block in the middle and put the flying geese units around it. Continue this step to build your big block, then sew all the pieces together. Make four of this big block to complete your quilt top. For the sashing, took a four-inch piece of the border fabric and sew a 1 1/2″ strip on both sides. Sew it in between the blocks, then sew a 1 1/2″ sashing all the way around the outside edge.
