Materials for Textured Polka Dot Smocking Quilt Block:

• Polka dot fabric
• Contrasting fabric, for the border
• Marking pen, pencil, or chalk
• Ruler
• Needle and thread
• Iron, for pressing
• Sewing machine

How to Make a Textured Polka Dot Smocking Quilt Block:

Step 1

Cut the polka dot fabric into a square at 9 inches, then cut the contrasting fabric into 2 strips at 5×3½ inches, and 2 strips at 11×3½ inches.

Step 2

Draw the diagram on the polka dot fabric as shown in the video, then double stitch on the first dot, and pick up the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th dot in that order.

Step 3

Push the needle through to the back, then pull the dots together, and do a double stitch on the back.

Step 4

Move on to the next set of dots, then continue until all sets are done, and then trim the square to 5 inches.

Step 5

Stitch the borders to the sides, then press as you go, and your quilt block is done!
