How to Make Texas Toast Sloppy Joes:

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F, then line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and set it aside. Spread the butter on each side of the bread, then place them on the prepared baking sheet, and sprinkle them with garlic powder and dried parsley on top.

Step 2

Flip the bread over and repeat the seasoning on the other side with garlic powder and dried parsley, then place them in the preheated oven, let them bake for about 5 minutes, and remove them from the oven.

Step 3

While waiting for them to bake, cook the ground beef in a pan until nice and brown, then transfer them to a strainer over a bowl, and drain off all the excess grease. In the same pan, add the butter, onions, and bell peppers, then saute them for about 3 to 5 minutes until brown, add the garlic, and continue to saute for 1 more minute until fragrant.

Step 4

Put the ground beef back into the pan, then add the light brown sugar, chili powder, salt, and black pepper, and then add the ketchup, mustard, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and steak sauce. Give them a good mix and bring them to a simmer for about 2 minutes, then turn off the heat, and set them aside.

Step 5

Get the toasts on the baking sheet, then flip them over, and top each of them with the sloppy joe mixture. Sprinkle them with shredded cheese, then put them back in the oven, and bake them for another 5 minutes. Serve immediately and enjoy!
