This recipe has the same ingredients as taco salad – the only difference is that the taco salad is deconstructed. Taco Salad Bowls Ingredients

  • 4 homemade tortilla bowls
  • 1 lb of ground beef
  • 3 tablespoons of homemade taco seasoning or 1 packet of store-bought
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 head iceberg lettuce (medium, chopped)
  • 1 avocado (peeled, pitted, and diced)
  • 1 cup of diced tomatoes or pico de gallo
  • 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese or Mexican cheese blend
  • 1/4 cup of cilantro (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup tortilla strips or chips (optional)
  • 1 lime (cut into wedges, to serve)

Lime crema:

  • 1/2 cup of sour cream
  • 1/3 cup of mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons of lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of sriracha sauce (optional)

 

How to Make Taco Salad Bowls

Step 1:

Start by making the tortilla bowls. While waiting for them to bake and cool, make the taco salad.

Step 2:

Place a large skillet over medium heat. Add the beef and cook until browned. Spoon out all of the excess fat, then add the taco seasoning and 1/2 cup of water. Cook for about 3 to 5 minutes, then remove from heat. Set aside and let it cool.

Step 3:

Make the dressing. In a small bowl, add all the ingredients for the dressing and mix until well combined. Place in the refrigerator.

Step 4:

Chop the lettuce and place into serving bowls or taco bowl. Divide the ground beef between each one.

Step 5:

Add the toppings, followed by the cilantro. Drizzle the homemade dressing then serve with lime wedges.
