I have tried making Swedish meatballs before and they are so delicious that I couldn’t stop myself from eating them. Recently, while browsing the internet for a recipe idea that I can try for dinner, I found this yummy meatloaf version of Swedish meatballs by Catherine’s Plates on YouTube, and I knew immediately that I have to give it a try. It was worth it because the meatloaf taste so good that you’d want to eat it every day, we didn’t even have leftovers that day. You should try it, too!
Meatloaf Mixture
Gravy
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F, then line a deep baking sheet with aluminum foil, and set it aside for later. In the bowl of a stand mixer, add the ground meat, melted butter, eggs, diced onion, bread crumbs, mashed potatoes, salt, black pepper, and allspice, then mix them all together until well combined. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking sheet, then shape and compress them into an oval shape at about 3 inches high as shown in the video. Place it in the preheated oven, then allow it to bake for about 1 hour and 15 minutes or until cooked through, and let it cool down on the counter for at least 10 minutes. While waiting for the meatloaf to bake, prepare the gravy.

Step 2
Place a skillet on a stove over medium-high heat, then melt the butter, add the flour, and whisk them together for 1 minute. Pour the broth a little at a time, then make sure to whisk them well in between each addition until combined and there are no more lumps. Season it with Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, salt, pepper, and nutmeg, then give them a good whisk, increase the heat to high, and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, let it simmer until the liquid has been reduced and slightly thickened, then adjust the seasoning to taste, and turn off the heat. Add dollops of sour cream, then give them a good whisk until combined, and serve with the meatloaf. Enjoy!
