Easy Starburst Quilt with Jenny Doan

Are you looking for a fun quilt to make? This starburst quilt from Missouri Star on Youtube may look complex, but it’s actually super easy to do and perfect for beginners. What’s more, you can use your favorite layer cakes for this gorgeous quilt. Watch the tutorial below to learn the step-by-step instructions.

Materials:

• 1 pack 10″ squares
• 1 & 1/4 yards of background fabric
• 1 yard of outer border fabric
• 3 & 3/4 yards of backing fabric

Directions:

Step 1

Take one of your 10″ squares of colored fabric and one 10″ square of background. Put them with right sides together and sew a 1/4″ all the way around the outside. Make sure that your 1/4″ seam is the same on all four sides. After sewing, take your ruler, line it corner to corner, and cut it diagonally in both directions. Press the half-square triangles open. Do 16 pieces of these.

Step 2

Once you get all your blocks done, it’s time to assemble your quadrant. To start, arrange the half-square triangles in a 4×4 layout (check the picture below for the exact placement of each colored triangle). After laying them, put them right sides together, then sew them with a 1/4″ seam.
