This recipe by Come Sit At My Table on YouTube is a delicious way to cook green beans and you might have never tried it before. Usually, green beans are stir-fried with some bacon and potatoes, or whatever you have in your kitchen, but this one stands out among them because of how simple its ingredients are yet it still manages to be so flavorful and tasty that you can just eat it every day.

Ingredients:

  • 2 (50-ounce) cans of green beans
  • Bacon grease
  • 2 cups of chopped onion
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Directions:

Step 1

Place a large pot on a stove over medium-high heat, then pour in the green beans including the juices, and add 2 large spoonfuls of bacon grease. Bring them to a rolling boil, then season them with some salt and pepper, and reduce the heat to medium-low. Allow it to simmer and cook for about 1 hour making sure not to stir or mix the green beans in any way so that you don’t break them and prevent them from becoming mushy.

Step 2

After an hour or so, add in the chopped onions, then gently fold them together to combine, and season them with some more salt and pepper to taste. Allow the beans to cook for 1 to 2 more hours, then make sure to check every 30 minutes. Once the liquid has reduced almost completely and the beans are shriveled, turn off the heat, then transfer them to serving bowls, and serve immediately. You can also let them cool down, then place them in the fridge to chill and serve later.
