Ingredients for Southern Cowboy Beans:

  • ½ pound of ground beef
  • ½ pound of bacon, chopped
  • onion, chopped
  • 1/3 cup of brown sugar
  • ¼ cup of ketchup
  • 1 tbsp of mustard
  • ¼ cup of BBQ sauce
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • ½ tsp of black pepper
  • ½ tsp of chili powder
  • (15 ounces) can of pinto beans
  • (15 ounces) can of  pork ‘n beans
  • (15 ounces) can of butter beans
  • (15 ounces) can of kidney beans

Step 1

Place a large skillet on a stove over medium-high heat, then add the beef, bacon, and chopped onions in the same pan in portions as shown in the video, and cook them until nice and brown.

Step 2

Mix the onion and beef, then remove the bacon to a plate, set it aside, and drain off the excess grease.

Step 3

Spread the meat on the pan evenly, then pour in all of the beans, and add the brown sugar barbecue sauce, ketchup, chili flakes, pepper, salt, and yellow mustard.

Step 4

Mix everything together until well combined, then add more ketchup and BBQ sauce to your preference, and continue to mix to combine.

Step 5

Sprinkle the cooked bacon over the top, then place it in an oven preheated at 350°F, and bake it for about 2 hours. Serve and enjoy!
