How to Use a Seam Ripper
Most people when they have a straight stitch, they’ll go and try to take one seam out at a time which can be effective but it will take a long time to finish. So what you should do is open up your fabric to expose the seam inside, then get the ball on the seam ripper underneath the seam, and push it all the way to the end cleanly ripping the seams.
How to Take Apart a Chain Stitch or Jean Hem
First, go to one end of your chain stitch and begin to pick out the thread to loosen it on one side, then gently tug, and pull the seams completely. If it feels like creating more knots then you can try to loosen that end again until you become successful in ripping the seams.
How to Take Apart a Serger Seam 3 Thread
There are two sides to the serger seam, one side with all the loops, and the other side has swirls, this is the one you need to focus on. Usually, you’ll see a teardrop shape and when you look under it you’ll find a straight stitch, that’s the one you should rip. Take that out and go the next one between the little loops, then keep taking them out until the thread is easy enough to pull all the way to the end.
