There are a lot of quilt projects that you can find online, but when it comes to lovely and easy patterns, you can never go wrong with a Carol Thelen project, just like this one! Check out this lovely quilt block that even beginners can get right on their first try.
Step 1
Line a small dark square at the back diagonally from corner to corner, then place it on the bottom end of a white background strip with their right sides facing and edges lined up, and stitch them along the line. Cut off the excess with ¼ inch seam allowance, flip it open, and repeat the same steps with the remaining pieces.
Step 2
Lay a large center square right side up, then line the small background squares diagonally at the wrong side, and place them on each side of the block with the right sides facing. Stitch them along the marked line, cut off the excess, and press them open.

Step 4
