How to Make a Propeller Quilt Block:

Step 1

Download and print templates at 100%, then cut the pieces as listed on the template. Place the print square at the center, then lay the background strips on all 4 sides of the square, and fill the spaces between the strips with the curved pieces lining up their edges together nicely as demonstrated in the video. On the empty corners, place the remaining background pieces and the curves should fit together.

Step 2

Start piecing the corner pieces first, fold them in half to find the midpoint, then press it with your finger, and unfold the fabric. Stack them together with their right sides facing, then align the midpoints, pin the center, pin the sides, and then in between. Ease the fabric along the edge, then stitch from the back making sure to avoid sewing the pins, and remove them as you go.

Step 3

Press the block unit nice and flat, then repeat the same steps with the remaining corner units to make a total of 4, and reassemble the pieces together into a block. Start stitching them together per row, then the rows to each other making sure to nest the seams, and press the seams as you go.
