Looking for a unique flower quilt block? Look no further than this easy patchwork flower block by The Melody of Sewing. I fell in love with this design the moment I saw it online. It is unlike any patterns I have seen before. The petals have uneven sizes, making the flowers more interesting and eye-catching. This flower quilt pattern is definitely one of my favorites.

Place one colored square and one background square on top of each other right sides together. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner. Sew 1/4″ away from both sides of the line. Repeat with the remaining squares. Trim excess and press each one open toward the dark side.
Lay the half-square triangles like a four-patch forming a diamond in the center. Make sure to use the same HSTs to make each block. Cut each square into 3 equal parts.
Exchange the second piece from the right to the second piece to the left for the top and bottom parts. Sew them together in quarters. See the photo below for reference.
Exchange opposite pieces from the first block to the opposite pieces of the second block, rotating each one into a horizontal position. Fill the spaces with the colored and background strips. See the photo below for reference. Sew them together.
Place the 4 pieces of small colored squares in the middle of the background flower and the 4 pieces of small background squares in the middle of the colored flower. Sew diagonally from corner to corner, then trim excess. Press them open. Sew the four units together like a four-patch.
