It is unlike any patterns I have seen before. The petals have uneven sizes, making the flowers more interesting and eye-catching. This flower quilt pattern is definitely one of my favorites.

  • 4 pieces of 5.5″ x 1.8″ background strips

  • 4 pieces of 1.5″ x 1.5″ background squares

How to Make a Flower Quilt Block

Step 1:

Place one colored square and one background square on top of each other right sides together. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner. Sew 1/4″ away from both sides of the line. Repeat with the remaining squares. Trim excess and press each one open toward the dark side.

Step 2:

Lay the half-square triangles like a four-patch forming a diamond in the center. Make sure to use the same HSTs to make each block. Cut each square into 3 equal parts.

Step 3:

Exchange the second piece from the right to the second piece to the left for the top and bottom parts. Sew them together in quarters. See the photo below for reference.
