Ingredients:

  • 6 slices of bread

Custard Mixture

  • 3 tbsp of custard powder or cornstarch
  • ½ cup of milk

Caramel Sauce

  • ¼ cup of sugar
  • 1 tbsp of water

Batter

  • 1½cup of milk
  • 1/3 cup of sugar

Directions:

Step 1

Cut off the sides of the bread, then cut the white into small pieces, put them in a blender, and blend them until crumbs. Whisk together the custard powder and milk until incorporated and dissolved, then set it aside for later. Place a pan or saucepan on a stove over medium heat, then add the sugar and water, and cook them until caramelized. Move the pan around to mix the caramel, then turn off the heat, and pour it on a 6-inch round cake pan.

Step 2

Move the pan around and spread the sauce evenly at the bottom, then set it aside. Place a clean pan on a stove over medium-high heat, then add the milk and sugar, then let them boil while stirring constantly, and then turn off the heat before adding the custard mixture. Keep on stirring them together to combine, then gradually add the bread crumbs, and mix them in until well combined.

Step 3

Pour the batter into the cake pan and spread it evenly, then boil some water in a large pot, place a steaming rack inside, and place the cake pan on top. Cover the cake pan, then let the pudding steam for about 30 to 35 minutes, and allow it to cool down once done cooking. Place the pudding in the refrigerator, then let it chill for at least 1 hour, and once ready unmold it in a serving plate upside down. Serve and enjoy!
