I have a lot of favorite quilt blocks to make, but I really enjoyed making this specific one by Carol Thelen on YouTube because I find the pattern so cute and interesting. I also love the fact that you can use a jelly roll for this project and it is also a great quilt block to practice your skills on if you’re a beginner. Learn how now and give it a try this weekend.
Step 1
Pick the fabric that you want to use, then cut them to size, and group them into patches A, B, and C. From the patch C, take 2 background and dark print squares, then pair two together making sure they are of the opposite colors, and stitch them together before pressing them open. Place a dark rectangle patch A on top of the pieced squares, then stitch them together, and press the seams open.

Step 2
Stitch an accent rectangle at the bottom, then press it open, and stitch the larger accent rectangles to the side pressing them open as well. Set aside the pieced square unit and proceed to piece together the remaining large rectangles and squares. Place an accent square on top of any corner of the large square, then sew the accent fabric diagonally from corner to corner, trim off the excess ¼ inch away from the stitching line, and press them open.
Step 3
Sew the remaining rectangles one at a time on either side of the square opposite the accent corner as shown in the video, then press them open, and start assembling the blocks together making sure to refer to the diagram for the proper layout. Sew the top row together, then press the seams open, and repeat with the bottom two before stitching the rows to each other and pressing them open.
