This lovely quilt block by Carol Thelen on YouTube is truly remarkably and stunningly done, this is definitely a project idea that you can try to put your skills to the test while having fun at the same time. The instructions are also super easy to follow, so make sure to check this quilt out today, and give it a try this weekend.
Step 1
Cut the fabrics to size and group them into patches A, B, C, and D. Take 2 patch C backgrounds and 2 dark D patches, then 2 of the patch C gold rectangles and 2 of the patch D background squares, and then sew the squares to the rectangles. Press them open, then stitch the 2 gold ones and the black squares together, and then the black rectangles to the white squares, make sure to press them open.

Step 2
Take the units that you sew together, then assemble them as shown in the video and the diagram, sew them, and press the seams open. Take those units, then sew a patch C fabric on the side, and press. Sew patch A to the top and the bottom, then sew patch B on the sides, and press every now and then. Sew the patch A to the top, then put the blocks together according to the pattern instructions, and sew them together making sure to press as you go.
