So if you’re looking for a new quilt project to try this week or to pass the time, then check out this illusion quilt block idea by Tulip Square on YouTube. To learn how, read the step-by-step instructions down below, and watch the video tutorial for more details.
Step 1
Download and print the fabrics, cut them to size as instructed in the pattern, and line the back of the background square diagonally. Put one white square on the top left and bottom right corner of the large dark square with their right sides facing, then stitch them down diagonally, trim off the excess, and press the seams nicely.
Step 2
Get a medium fabric, put a dark square on top with their right sides facing, then stitch diagonally, and stitch again ½ inch away from the first stitching. Cut them apart, then press the seams nicely, and repeat one more time to make two. Assemble the 3 block units as shown in the video, then stitch them one at a time, and press the seams as you go.
Step 3
Lay the background square and medium print square on each side of the light print strip with their right sides facing, then stitch them diagonally, and repeat one more time for a total of 2 stip units. Place them on each side of the block units you pieced together earlier as shown in the video or refer to the diagram, then stitch them, and press the seams nicely.
