This beautiful quilt block by Teresa DownUnder on YouTube is so simple to make and even beginners can try it. The technique used is an easier approach to making what others would perceive as a difficult quilt block. I had so much fun piecing this pretty quilt project together and I tried making them with different fabric combinations already.

Step 1

Get two 9-inch squares in contrasting colors, then lay them together with their right sides facing, and pin them securely. Stitch around all edges with ¼ inch seam allowance, then cut them apart in half diagonally in both directions and trim off the corners at an angle.

Step 2

Press the seams nicely, then trim them into 6-inch squares, and cut them in half. Cut each strip into half again, and you’ll have small half-square triangles and solid squares. Assemble everything as shown in the video, then stitch them per row, and then stitch the rows to each other pressing the seams as you go.
