Step 1
Cut the fabrics to size, then line the lighter fabric in half diagonally, and lay it on top of a printed square with their right sides facing. Stitch them on either side of the line, cut them in half, and press the seam toward the dark fabric. Make a total of 16 half-square triangles, then trim each of them into 4½ inches square, and set them aside.

Step 2
For the flying geese unit, place the large square fabric in a way that it looks like a diamond, then place 2 squares on the top and bottom corner with their right sides facing and edges matching nicely, and draw the line at the center diagonally from corner to corner. Stitch them on each side of the line, cut them in half, and press the seams toward the background fabric.
Step 3
Place another square on the empty corner, then line it again in half, stitch it on either side and cut it in half. Press the seams toward the background fabric, then cut off the nubs, and start laying out the units together. Assemble them as demonstrated in the diagram or pattern guide, then stitch them per row, and then the rows to each other making sure to press as you go.
