A few weeks ago, I was planning on making a pot holder instead of buying from the store, so I did what I always do when doing a new project, and that is to browse for inspiration and ideas online. That’s when I stumbled upon this sweet pot holder sewing project by Hello Sewing on YouTube.

Unlike other pot holders, this one is shaped like a heart and it’s pretty easy and comfy to use, but what I loved most about this one is the fact that it was very simple and quick to make. This makes it perfect even for beginners to try, learn it here now and see for yourself.
Step 1
Download and print the pattern or make one on your own as shown in the video. Cut out the pattern along the solid line, then cut 2 main fabrics and 1 lining fabric into 8×10 inches, and fold them all in half. Stack them together with their folds lined up, then place the heart template on top, and clip them together in place.
Step 2
Cut the fabrics tracing the shape of the heart, then unfold the fabrics, and take one of the fabric hearts. Fold the pattern along the pocket line, then cut out the pockets, and cut the pattern along the dotted line.

Step 3
Fold the batting in half, then cut out 2 to 3 hearts, and insert the straight line of the pockets into the binding. Pin them in place, then cut a piece of binding for the hanging loop, and sew them making sure to backstitch at the start and finish. Trim off the excess, then layer the fabric as shown in the video, and pin them in place.
Step 4
Stitch them with ¼ inch seam allowance, and sew the hanging loop piece as well. Trim down the seam allowance, then sew the bias binding all around the edges, and you’re done!
