Easy Fat Quarter-Friendly Sunshine Quilt Tutorial

This lovely project idea by SewVeryEasy on YouTube is the perfect quilt to make for spring! It is so pleasant and vibrant, but what really piqued my interest is the use of fabric panels because it made the block easier to make. You can definitely try this with other colors of fabrics that you want and I guarantee you it will look fun and amazing. Materials:
- 9 fat quarter
- 1 fabric panel
- Needle and coordinating thread
- Marking pen, pencil, or chalk
- Ruler
- Fabric pins or clips
- Iron, for pressing
- Sewing machine
Directions:
Step 1
Cut 6 pieces of fabric panel at 10 inches for the center of each block, then 24 pieces of fabric squares for the corners at 3 inches, 24 pieces of fabric rectangles at 5×3 inches for the sides, and 48 pieces of half-square triangles. To make the half-square triangles, cut 4-inch squares of 2 different colors, then draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of one color from corner to corner and stack two squares together making sure they’re of different colors. Sew on both sides of the marked line at about ¼ inch seam allowance, then cut along the line, press it open, and square it to 3 inches.

Step 2
Repeat this process with the rest of the fabric squares, then once done, lay the pieces around the panel, and start sewing the units together. Lay and assemble the units on the sides of the panel as shown in the video, then sew them together, and press nicely. Once you’ve completed all of the blocks, lay them out, then place the sashing around them, and add a small block on each corner. Sew them together and finish your quilt however you want.
