I always thought that cakes are pretty difficult and time-consuming to make until I saw this recipe by Delish on YouTube which only requires a box of ready-made cake mix and a can of Dr. Pepper! I’ve already done this recipe at home a couple of times and they always come out perfect, even my family loves it and they never get tired of eating it. You should try this out, too, you won’t regret it!

Ingredients:

For the Cake

  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix
  • 1 (12-ounce) can of Dr. Pepper
  • 1 (11-ounce) jar of hot fudge, warmed

For the Frosting

  • 1 cup or 2 sticks of unsalted butter, softened
  • 2½ cups of powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp of pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp of Maraschino cherry juice, from the jar
  • ¼ tsp of kosher salt
  • Maraschino cherries, for garnish

Directions:

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F, then grease a 9 by 13 inches cake pan with nonstick cooking spray, and set it aside. In a large mixing bowl, add the chocolate cake mix and Dr. Pepper, then mix them together until combined and smooth, and then pour it into the prepared pan spreading it nice and even.

Step 2

Place it in the preheated oven and allow it to bake for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted at the center comes out clean. Once done baking, poke the cake all over using the bottom of a wooden spoon’s handle, then pour the hot fudge all over the top and into the holes, and then set the cake aside.

Step 3

In a separate large mixing bowl, add the butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, Maraschino juice, and salt, then beat them all together with an electric hand mixer until combined, smooth, and creamy. Scoop the frosting onto the cake, then spread it nicely, and top them with Maraschino cherries. Serve and enjoy!
