I’ve always wanted to make a wreath for my Mother and Grandmother but wire wreath forms can be expensive along with other supplies that I would need to make the wreath. I thought that if I really want to make a very lovely piece, then I might have to spend a lot on the required materials. Luckily, I saw this video tutorial by This Southern Girl Can on YouTube and I was immediately impressed by how realistic this wreath resembles a rose. What even made this better is that it only needs 3-5 simple tools and supplies, some of them might already be available in your home so you don’t need to buy everything. Plus, you can finish this within just a few minutes!

Materials:

  • 10-inch x 10-yard Dollar Tree mesh, red and green
  • Splatter screen
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Wire cutter
  • Scissors

Directions:

Step 1

You can cut the handle of your splatter screen or leave it as is and use it to hang the wreath later. Cut the pipe cleaners in half, then fold them in half, and set them aside. Measure the mesh and cut it into a 10×10-inch square, if you have no ruler, then fold the bottom end of the mesh up until the edges are lined up, and cut through the side. After cutting the mesh into a square, fold it diagonally into a triangle, then fold both sides down the pointed center, and roll one side towards the other.

Step 2

Wrap a pipe cleaner around the neck to hold the bud in place, then twist the pipe cleaner tightly, and cut off the excess mesh ¼ inch away from where it was wrapped. Pull the tails of the pipe cleaner down, then insert it at the center of the splatter screen, pull it down, and twist it together tightly, adjust the bud so it’s standing right up. For the petals, cut a 10-inch square, then fold it diagonally, and squeeze the neck at the center so the top is curved like a jellyfish as shown in the video.

Step 3

Hold it in place by wrapping a pipe cleaner around the neck, then cut the excess mesh, and insert it on the screen right next to the bud. Twist the pipe cleaner underneath and cut, then make another petal, and place it opposite the first petal. Make sure that the first petal is snugged and wrapped around the bud, then the second petal wrapped around the first petal, and continue to do so until the rose becomes whole. Create small leaves using green mesh and attach them to the sides of the flower, then hang, and you’re done!
