One of the best ways you can help the environment is to recycle plastic, and this DIY rug using plastic bags tutorial from Gurnav Craft on Youtube is a great way to recycle those plastic bags lying around your house. It’s super easy to make, and I’m not even kidding! Watch the video tutorial below and start making your DIY rugs today.

Materials:

  • plastic bags
  • scissors
  • lighter
  • big needle and thread

Directions:

Step 1

Cut three plastic bags open, tape them together on top, then braid them. (Tape them somewhere you’re comfortable to braid them.) After you reach braiding the half, remove the tape and then burn the tip with a lighter to lock the top part of the braided plastic. Continue braiding until you finish. When you reach the end, insert new plastic bag strips into the braid.

Step 2

After you reach the desired length, burn the end to lock it, then cut the plastic pieces that sticking out. Now, start rounding the braided plastic, making sure that you are stitching it while you go to secure and join them. Continue this process until you reach the end of the braided plastic.

Since I lover experiments, I’ve alwaysnloved to create, paint, as well as cook and style food. I feel in love with DIY as soon as I discovered it and could not have been more excited when I learned I could share projects with people around the world. Taking photos is a passion of mine, as is design and painting with oils. I love holidays and celebrations, crafting cute little gifts and serving up at least one new recipe I am excited about.
