Here’s a fun DIY project idea that you can try this spring season! With a few coffee filters and a foam wreath frame from Dollar store, you can have a beautiful wall and door decoration that looks like real peonies. This tutorial by Windy City Crafts Videos on YouTube is so simple and easy that you can make it in just a few minutes.
Step 1
For the brown-colored petal of the peonies, dip your coffee filters in some old coffee, and for the pink ones, dip them in water with a bit of red food coloring. Let them sit for about 15 to 20 minutes and then let them dry completely, you can even put them in the oven at about 300 degrees for about 10 to 15 minutes. Starting with a stack of 6 filters matched evenly, fold them in half and again in half, then you’ll end up with a triangle-like shape. At the wider top of the piece, make a scalloped cut and make short slits or notches at the edges. Repeat the process with other coffee filters.

Step 2
Grab a bamboo skewer, then start inserting the coffee filters one at a time, making sure that you dab hot glue each time at the center so that it stays in place. Add another petal until you’ve used all the coffee filters up. The amount of petals that you’ll add to the skewer depends on how small or large you want your peonies to be. Cut down the skewers, leaving only a little bit of wood near the petal. Grab the foam wreath frame, then start inserting and assembling the peonies around the wreath, then secure them with hot glue. Hung it to your wall or door.
