I’ve always wanted to make my own set of hanging towels because recently I bought a pretty fabric, and so I thought why not try and make one now? I immediately went and browsed the internet for an easy video tutorial that I could follow, and that’s when I found this DIY hanging towels by Hello Sewing on YouTube.

This was a very simple project with straightforward instructions that are super easy to follow, especially for beginners. You can make these towels and give them as a gift, and you can also customize them by adding embellishments or labels so you can sell them if you want.
Step 1
Remove the labels and the hanging loop off your tea towel, then fold it in half, mark the midpoints, and cut it along the midpoints. Fold it again in half, then mark the midpoint, and mark 4″ then 3″ from the center, do the same to the other side.
Step 2
Lay it flatly on a surface with its wrong side up, pinch on the 4″ marks, then bring them to the center folding them nicely, and then fold the upper and bottom ends inward about ½”.
Step 3
Clip them in place, then press them nicely, and flip the towel over to the right side. Measure the top, then stitch it across with ¼” seam allowance, and cut the cotton fabric to size as demonstrated in the video.
Step 4
Fold it in half and mark the midpoint across and lengthwise, then place the band on the center of the fabric’s width, and stitch on both short ends. Fold it in half with its right side facing, then sew across the edges of the band, align the midpoints, and pin the towel to the fabric.
Step 5
Roll the towel and sandwich it inside the cotton fabric, then stitch the edges, push the corners in, and stitch them in place. Turn it right side out, then tuck the edges, and topstitch all around the cotton piece.
