This jellyfish lamp is one of my favorite DIY projects ever and it’s more inexpensive than other decorative lamps that you can buy online, too. If you have kids at home and you want to surprise them with a room makeover, then this is a great decor piece idea for you to consider making, I’m sure the kids will squeal with happiness and excitement with how their room would look like.

Materials for DIY Jellyfish Lamp:

  • Light blue wavy plastic bowls, Dollar Tree
  • Decorative mesh, Dollar Tree
  • Lace ribbon, Dollar Tree
  • Hanging LED lamp, Dollar Tree
  • Scissors
  • Fishing line
  • Needle and thread
  • Beads
  • Screw eye hook
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks

How to Make DIY Jellyfish Lamp:

Step 1

Wrap the mesh fabric around the bowl, then measure out how much you’ll need to cover the entire bowl, and cut off the excess. Sew the edges of the mesh and scrunch it up, then place the bowl inside, and sew the other edge of the mesh scrunching it up as well until the bowl is completely wrapped. Adjust the scrunch as needed, then cut the lace ribbon into strips, and insert the beads on them spacing them evenly.

Step 2

Create more lace strips for the tentacles of the jellyfish, then heat the pointed edge of the needle, and create a hole at the center and bottom of the bowl with it. Hot glue the strips to the inside of the bowl or underneath the edges of the mesh, then take a long piece of fishing line and tie it onto the light bulb.

Step 3

Make sure to double the strand to make it more sturdy and able to hold up the lamp, then insert the end of the fishing line underneath the bowl, and pull it through the hole at the center. Attach the hook screw to the ceiling, then hang the lamp to it, and you’re done!
