  • 1 tbsp of honey

  • ¼ cup of light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tbsp of onion powder
  • 2 tsp of kosher salt
  • 2 tsp of smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp of black pepper
  • ½ tsp of cumin
  • 1 cup of BBQ sauce, homemade or store-bought
  • Hamburger buns or deli rolls
  • 15 oz of coleslaw, optional

How to Make Dr. Pepper Pulled Pork:

Step 1

Line a crockpot with aluminum foil or crockpot liner, then place the thinly sliced onion on the bottom of the crockpot in a single layer and place the pork on top. Step 2

Baste the meat by brushing the pork with the prepared sauce, then in another mixing bowl, stir together the brown sugar, onion powder, kosher salt, smoked paprika, black pepper, and cumin until uniform. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture all over the top of the pork, then cover the crockpot with the lid, and cook it on a high setting for about 4 hours or on a low setting for about 6 hours.

Step 3

Once done cooking, transfer the pork to a large baking dish, then shred the meat, and pour the BBQ sauce over the top. Give them a good toss until evenly coated, then serve on hamburger bund or deli rolls with some coleslaw, and enjoy!
