Waffles have always been my go-to breakfast choice, and I can go on eating this every morning without getting tired of it. There are a lot of toppings that I have tried already, but this one by TheCooknShare on YouTube has intrigued me because it was a combination that I never thought would taste so good!

The savory and salty flavor of the chicken complemented the sweetness of the waffles so well, it was so delicious that even my family loved it so much. I am going to do this more often, you should try it, too, you won’t regret it!

Step 1
Prepare the brine of the chicken in a large bowl, pour in the water, add the white vinegar and salt, stir everything until well combined, and set it aside. Score or cut the top or skin side of the chicken, then put them in the bowl of brine, and submerge the chicken well. Let them soak, put them in the fridge to chill, and set for about 30 minutes.
Step 2
Grab another large mixing bowl, add the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, cayenne, oregano, dried parsley, salt, and pepper, and whisk them until combined. Divide the mixture into two, then in one part of the flour mixture, pour in a cup of water, and whisk continuously until combined.

Step 3
Once ready to cook, remove the chicken from the brine, then dredge it with flour until well coated, and dip it in the wet mixture until completely covered. Repeat coating the chicken in flour and dipping it in the wet mixture for 2nd coating, then deep fry it in 350° hot oil, and cook them in batches to not overcrowd the pan.
Step 4
Fry the chicken until nice and crispy, then place it on a wire rack, and allow it to drain off the excess oil. Prepare the waffle mixture in another bowl, then pour the batter into the waffle maker, and cook it until nice and crispy. Place a waffle on a serving plate, then put a fried chicken on top, and drizzle it with maple syrup, garnish with parsley if desired. Serve and enjoy!
