Start on the first layer. Get one white rectangle and the green rectangle. Place them on top of each other at a 90 degree angle, right sides together, making a letter L. Sew a diagonal along the 90 degree angle, then trim 1/4″ away from the seam. Open and press toward the white. Repeat the process with the other side of the green rectangle.
Repeat step 1 until the fifth layer. The fourth and fifth layer will be the same. For the trunk layer, sew the brown square in the middle of the white rectangles like how you normally do.
Sew all the rows together to make the Christmas tree, then press the block in one direction. It should measure 12 1/2″.
