Whenever I finish a quilt project I always look for new inspirations or ideas to try next because I just can’t bear a weekend without quilting, and one of my favorite channels to check out is Carol Thelen on YouTube. Her tutorials are always very easy to follow and the instructions are straightforward, too, and that is the reason why her video tutorials are the perfect ones to check out, especially, if you’re a beginner.

Directions:

Step 1

Cut the fabric to size, then take 1 patch A and 1 patch B, and lay the white rectangle to the side of the light print square with their right sides facing and edges matching. Sew them together, then press the unit open, lay the patch D rectangle to the bottom of the patch AB unit with their right sides facing and edges matching, and sew them together.

Step 2

Press it open, then repeat the same with the rest of the fabrics, and set them aside. Take the C and D patches, then lay the light print rectangle on either the top or bottom of the dark print square making sure that the right sides are facing and the edges are matching, sew them together, and press the seams open.

Step 3

Repeat the same steps with the rest of the fabric pieces and start assembling the block units. Lay the background square at the center, then lay the block units around the center block as shown in the video and diagram, and start stitching them together per row. Press their seams open, then sew the rows to each other, and press the block nice and flat.
