When I was still new to quilting, the projects that I was making were limited to simple patterns and those that only required fabric squares. One of my favorite quilt blocks to make is a bento box which is pretty easy and quick to piece together and only requires 2 contrasting fabrics.

Get 1 square of each fabric, then stack them with their right sides facing, and join them with ¼” seam allowance. Press the seams toward the darker fabric, then add the rectangle piece on the side of its opposite color, and stitch it in place. Press the seams toward the darker fabric, then keep adding the next pieces to the sides as shown in the video, and press the seams as you go. Make an identical piece but with opposite colors, then join them together, and make an identical piece of this unit but with opposite colors. Join the 2 blocks together, then press nicely, and you’re done!
