Do you collect the glass jars from the products you finished? I personally do this as it’s a great way to reduce waste rather than throwing them away immediately. However, peeling the stickers from the jars can be a bit of a challenge. But don’t worry! Going Zero Waste will teach you the easiest way to remove labels from jars so you can reuse them.

It’s so frustrating when the label doesn’t come off quickly and when you get sticky residue after removing it. The trick to avoid this from happening is to use boiling water, baking soda, and dish soap. Once the jars are clean, you can decorate them however you like. There are so many ways to reuse the jars. You can turn them into storage containers, pencil holders, piggy banks, candles, and many more. Next time you finish a pickle jar or peanut butter jar, don’t throw it away.

Remove the lids from the glass jars and pour boiling water on each one. Let it sit for about 10 to 15 minutes.
Remove the boiling water and peel the label as much as you can.
Create a paste using baking soda and dish soap in a small container. Mix everything until it turns into a paste. Spread it around the jar. It shouldn’t be a thick layer. A thin layer can work. Let them dry.
Once they are dry, rinse the jars with water. All the residue should be washed away. If there is stubborn residue, don’t hesitate to use a brush to scrub it off.
Wipe them dry and you are done!
