Step 2:

For the background:

Cut 20 at 2 3/4″ width of the fabric, then cut into 2 3/4″ squares. Make 280 squares in total, then cut each in half diagonally to make 560 triangles.

Cut 8 at 4″ width of the fabric, then cut to 4″ by 2 1/4″. Make 140 rectangles in total.

Cut 3 at 11″ width of the fabric, then cut to 11′ by 1 1/2″. Make a total of 58 for sashing.

Cut 7 at 1 1/2″ width of the fabric for the inner border.

Step 3:

Sew background triangles on a 3″ print square onto the top and bottom sides. Make sure to center the square. Press the seam allowances toward the background. Do it again for the sides. Trim the block to a 4″ square. Repeat to make a total of 4 blocks for the corners.

Step 4:

Sew a 4″ by 2 1/4″ print rectangle to a 4″ by 2 1/4″ background rectangle along one side. Press the seams toward the print. It should be a 4″square. Repeat to make 4 blocks.

Step 5:

Arrange the blocks you just made with the 4″ matching block in the center. Sew them in rows, then sew the rows together. It should measure 11″. Repeat to make 35 rolling stone blocks.

Step 6:

Lay out 7 blocks in a row – make 5 rows. Place sashing between all blocks and put the 1/2″ cornerstones between the horizontal sashing. Sew each row, then sew the rows together.

Step 7:

For the inner border, sew 7 at 1 1/2″ width of the fabric strips into one long piece. Sew onto all sides of the quilt.

For the outside border, cut 8 at 4″ width of the fabric and sew it into one long piece. Sew onto all sides.
