Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by making this adorable gnome as taught by Patti J. Good on YouTube. It is very easy and fun to make, perfect for those who want to make inexpensive decor made of repurposed materials or stuff from the nearest dollar store.
Step 1
Take the hat apart by cutting off the decorative stuff, also cut around the little knobs that are sticking out, then take batting and double it up. Place it on top of the hat, then trim and glue it down. Put the sock over, pull it all the way down, then stretch it out and cover the base of the hat. Secure it with hot glue. To create the body, insert the dowel sticks into two layers of cork, cut off a piece of the sock and cover the cork to make the leg, then glue it on. Insert the shoe at the bottom and glue it to secure, stick the feet on the styrofoam cone evenly, remove, then apply glue inside the hole, and then insert it back.

Step 2
Insert the hat on the body, then mark where the hat stops, glue the batting below that mark, wrap it around, and trim off the excess. Insert another piece of the sock on the body until you reach the bottom, then glue it around. Pull up at the top and cut 2 inches above, then tie it off. Put the hat back on, then attach the beard under the hat, and glue the beaded nose. For the arms, cut a pipe cleaner however long you want the arms to be, then cut a piece of the sock to cover the arms, and glue it around the pipe cleaner. Attach the smaller wooden beads at the end for the hands, insert under the hat then secure with hot glue, attach ribbon to glitter foam, then wrap it around the base of the hat, attach some clovers or shamrocks however you want.
