Give it a little time and all of those wonderful fashions come back around…specifically the 50’s. I always adored the 50’s styles and I’m so excited that they’ve come back around!

Now you can be effortlessly elegant with this custom made 1950s tea dress. Its classic fitted bodice is nipped at the waist, and the full skirt ensures this frock flatters in all the right places. This style is certainly flattering on many body shapes. That’s one of the biggest reasons I love this style.
On Etsy, I saw a dress similar to this one, for $245! I’m so thankful for DIY projects…look at all the money we save by doing this ourselves! There are many other 50’s dresses that I adore as well, such as the pencil skirt dress with the kick pleats at the bottom.

Christian Dior didn’t like the style for women during the 1940’s, which in his opinion was becoming too masculine and covered up.  Dior said he wanted to “Bring back beauty, feminine clothing, soft rounded shapes and full flowing skirts” like the women in the 1930’s.  In 1947, he debuted his new collection, most popularly known as “the new look”.

The new look consisted of a rounded shoulders, cinched waist and bell skirts created in luxurious fabrics. The look was meant to accentuate a women’s natural hour glass figure.

Dior’s “new look” catapulted him to fame. Dior’s designs were worn by some of the most famous actresses of the time,  Rita Hayworth, Ava Gardner and Marlene Dietrich.

Since I lover experiments, I’ve alwaysnloved to create, paint, as well as cook and style food. I feel in love with DIY as soon as I discovered it and could not have been more excited when I learned I could share projects with people around the world. Taking photos is a passion of mine, as is design and painting with oils. I love holidays and celebrations, crafting cute little gifts and serving up at least one new recipe I am excited about.
