This is a creative way to reuse a wine barrel and turning it into a chair for the patio. Creating this wine barrel chair is creative and I know it requires many steps. However, it’s sturdy and stable. Nature’s Courtyard! tutorial on YouTube does a great showing all of the steps throughout her whole entire video. This wine barrel chair gives me a southern and farmhouse rustic feel. The results, in the end, are worth watching and I was blown away how this tutorial does not require a lot of materials if you already have woodworking supplies. The cushions and pillows she added on top of the wine barrel chairs complete the whole look.
Materials:
- wine barrel (1)
- 4 x 8 OSB board for seat (1)
- 2 x 4-inch wood
- wood screws
- stain
- paintbrush or cloth
- rubber gloves
- electric drill
- jigsaw
- circular saw
- wood stick
- pencil
- cardboard
- outdoor foam
- outdoor fabric
- outdoor pillows
- bar clamps
Directions:
First, pencil out the shape of the chair as the opening and use the circular saw to cut the barrel in half into two.
Next, use a cardboard box to make the round outline to carve out the seat placement. Continue to watch Nature’s Courtyard! tutorial on YouTube for the final results.
Overall, this is a great idea to repurpose a wine barrel if you happen to have one. You might need some extra assistance to hold down the barrel when it’s time to saw the barrel in half. I would love to make this because patio furniture can be expensive, and these chairs look extra wide and roomy. However, I don’t know when I would have a wine barrel laying around for me to reuse. I do like this style for the patio and it fits perfectly for outdoors.
