Upcycling denim fabric from salvaged denim is one of my favorite recycling activities. I love all jeans new and old and the denim fabric is so amazing I just love seeing them all laid next to each other where you can really notice the textural diversity of the different denim fabrics. So when I found this Youtube video tutorial describing how to make a complete quilt out of recycled denim, I knew I had to get started on mine immediately. The material list is petty straightforward:
Materials:
- The total amount of Denim is about 2 1/2 yards
- The total amount of flannel is also about 2 1/2 yards (a King Size Sheet will work)
- 1 Charm Pack
- Thread in a variety of colors
- Denim sewing machine needles
- A sewing Machine
- A Serger
Make sure you have Denim Sewing Machine Needles
Then gather the rest of your materials and cut out all your pieces
Then follow the simple instructions in the video to sew this masterpiece quilt
This quilt is so gorgeous and is about an intermediate skill level. Mine turned out fantastic and I know yours will too. I made one to use as a throw on my Hippy Boho Chic porch/ patio and it was the perfect weight and sturdiness for that area and looked great with all the plants and hanging macrame baskets I have out there. I have made on for my daughter’s dorm room as well and I really hope no one sees it… You know why I can’t make anymore.
