I love smoked meats and smoked cheeses, as much as I love DIY so when I saw this DIY Terracotta Clay Pot Grill and Smoker, I knew it was a match made in Heaven. I already had two brand new clay pots and lived right down the street from Lowes, my favorite place in the world to get DIY supplies so I knew I could start this project in the earl afternoon and finish it in time to use it for that night’s dinner.
I started by drilling 2 holes in the bottom of one of the pots to mount the U Bolt Handle. Make and start drilling with a small drill bit then graduate to large, otherwise you will crack your pot. Then lined both edges with BBQ Pit Gasket.
Then place the brick at the bottom, that will hold up the grate, so the fire can get an adequate air supply
Then you place the grill on and cover the pre-cut hole in the top of the pot lid with foil and poke a hole and stick in the thermometer.
I have to say, this smoker turned out way better than I even expected. My husband was really surprised and impressed when he saw my creation. He could not stop smiling and tooke my photo next to my work of art and immediately posted it to Facebook. Our post got 200 likes in the first hour, which is mega-viral in my book!
