This DIY scrappy star block quilt by Lori Holt on YouTube makes an easy project because she does a great job explaining all of the instructions with details. Plus, you can use any style of fabric to create a vintage or modern style quilt. I think it would be a cool project to start on if you want to make one big quilt to hang up in a room. This seems like a simple project to work on because you can sew a lot of the items in one sitting and patch them together. I do love the different kinds of fabrics she uses for each point of the star because it adds a nice variety on the whole look. I think this is a great way to use a lot of your fabric scraps because you can use them up without having them go to waste.
First, start off with small rectangle fabric scraps and put the two together. Use one with a background and one scrappy print. Also, use an accurate quarter seam allowance and just sew a bunch of rectangles to get them done at once.
Next, continue to watch Lori Holt’s tutorial on YouTube for the full instructions and details.
Overall, I think this scrappy star block quilt is so cute and would be a nice decor to just hang up around the house in your craft room. Honestly, I’m not big on sewing so I’m not sure if I would make this for myself. I think it would be a nice gift to make for someone to put in a nursery room. Plus, it’s a good way to make a banner out of multiple blocks or a big blanket.
