Fall candles are one of favorites to kickstart the holidays of the year. This DIY pumpkin spice and banana bread candles by Des on YouTube sounds so good and sweet as if I was baking something in the oven. I’ve never thought about how to make my own scented candles before, but it’s easier than I expected. I thought it would take a long process, but it’s so much cheaper. There are two different ways to add the scent such as using wax melts or fragrance oils into the unscented wax mix. Candles can be expensive over time, and I’ve gone through so many of them quickly too. I love candles so I burn them for hours in a day.
First, start off by chopping up a good size unscented candle to small pieces as possible so it can melt faster. Fill up a pot with water and place the oven safe measuring cup with the cut up wax pieces into the pot. Meanwhile the wax is melting, continue to watch Des tutorial on YouTube for the full instructions and details.
Next, once the wax is melted in and infused with the fragrance oil or coloring wax, pour it into the candle glass with the wick. Place the candles in the freezer for about an hour, and let them sit out overnight to set.
Note: add food coloring for a more pigmented color because they dry lighter when it’s melted. I’ve learned some cool tips from this tutorial, and it makes me want to deconstruct my old candles and revamp them. I have so many candles that I’ve thrown out, because the wick is done.
