For those that cannot sew, this no-sew quilted pinecone ornament tutorial by The Ornament Girl on YouTube shows how easily and quickly it comes together. Before watching this tutorial, I was thinking it was going to be a tough DIY, but I was surprised that’s more simple than the final results. It’s so pretty, and you can make all kinds of quilted pinecone ornaments for your Christmas tree. This specific pinecone that is shown in this video is one version out of many that she has on her channel. This pinecone uses a square fold, and it’s less structured, which means you can adopt this style into various shapes of foam for your base.
First, start off with the first square that is going to sit on the bottom to cover the base of the egg. Make sure you place the pin through the pattern side in the center and pin the four corners.
Next, make the layers going down the egg by creating a square fold. Hold the piece of fabric with the pattern side facing down, fold it in half once and again. Hold the square like a diamond with the folded edges pointing down and the raw edges pointing up. Continue to watch The Ornament Girl tutorial on YouTube for full instructions and details.
Overall, this is not a hard DIY project to work on, and it’s getting ready for the holidays. I would love to make some of these ornaments with two different fabrics because it adds a nice dimension instead of one solid color.
