This post is actually about achieving that well worn, loved, aged and antique look on furniture and decor items. Sooo, if you’re looking for a cool project to do on that old dresser you’ve thought about tossing, this is the answer! I had no idea there was such a thing as “metal scrapbook paper” until I saw this tutorial.
Don’t you love the old metal ceiling tiles? I have a thing for them…they take me back to a different era…one of great beauty and nostalgia. This look can be mixed with different decor and makes a real statement in your home. Or, if you love the Shabby Chic look, this will fit right in!
I’ve always had an affinity for the old homes with the ornate metal ceiling tiles and have been dying to get my hands on some of them…I just haven’t gotten that lucky yet. This is why I got so excited about this project! Now I can get that same look with this metal scrapbook paper! Debi with Debi’s Design Diary purchased the metal scrapbook paper at BCIcrafts.com, so actually the minimal cost of these is worth the price when you’ve already got your piece of furniture!
I simply fell in love with this DIY project and wanted to do this immediately! I found it very interesting the way she layers the paint colors and after it dries, instead of using sandpaper, she uses a damp rag to reveal the colors underneath. Then she applies a product called Black Patina which turns the surface black where it was rubbed back to the metal.
Watch how she does this fabulous project in her step by step tutorial and get busy making one of your own!
