In this step by step instructions, One Little Project demonstrates how to make this with a homemade heart mold using only a tin foil. It would be a great Valentine’s gift for your loved ones if you’re still thinking of one. They would surely appreciate the flair or personalization, trust me. Watch the video tutorial below to learn how to make this.

Materials:

  • clear glue
  • 10 clear glass beads
  • 15 red glass beads
  • fishing line
  • suction cup (with hook)
  • scissors
  • tin foil
  • black marker
  • heart outline (optional)
  • tape
  • large thick needle

Directions:

Step 1

Draw a 4″ heart shape using a black marker in the middle of an 8″ wide piece of tin foil. Next, cut another piece of foil, this time 5″ wide, then fold it 2″ over lengthwise. After this, place the folded foil on one side of the heart. Bend it over so the 1″ piece lays flat outside the heart, while the 2″ piece forms a wall.  Secure with tape. Make another piece for the other side of the heart. Once done, cut off the excess foil, then just wrap over the extra to reinforce the walls of the mold.

Step 2

Next, cover the bottom of the mold with clear glue, then start adding the glass beads. Once you fill-up the mold and you’re satisfied with it, leave it for a few days to allow it to completely dry. After a few days, remove the tin foil carefully, revealing the heart suncatcher. Cut the excess glue on the edges, then make a hang using a fish line. Attach it to a suction cup with a hook and your suncatcher is ready!
