This is so awesome that I couldn’t hardly wait to make one! Debi does it again! She has some of the greatest DIY’s and creates some of the coolest projects! Watch for more projects from Debi’s Design Diary. She’s quite a character and fun to watch.
After her Assistant traces off the silhouette of a giant bird, Debi gets busy sawing the bird out a large piece of recycled wood and sands it. Then she creates a sturdy stand, with a groove cut out, to slide the giant bird into. She paints the bird black with 3 coats of chalk paint. Then she “seasons” the bird with chalk (rubbing it off with a rag afterward), to make it easy to write on.
I’m really fond of birds, so this particular craft project was something I definitely had to do! I have a collection of birds in various sizes and colors sitting around on shelves in my home. On the exterior of my home I collect all types of interesting bird houses!
I keep this chalkboard bird in my kitchen for notes to my husband and kids…it’s so convenient and is such a great look for my home!
