My daughter was having a lot of trouble doing her homework in her lap, even with the cute little bean bag lap desk I had made for her and she really needed a desk, however, her room was decorated in a farmhouse style and there was plenty of room to put a desk in there, so I went on Youtube and searched a farmhouse style DIY desk idea that could sit in the corner of the room and eventually house a hutch for her books. I found this awesome little farmhouse desk ide desk idea and it looked pretty easy, so I decided to give it a go. I started the DIY farmhouse computer desk project by gathering my materials which were so affordable. This tutorial on Youtube by @BuildItBetter was an excellent way to really get the feel of what it’s like to go hands-on with the play by play requirements to build this farmhouse desk.

Materials:

• 4 (2x6x8’s)
• 6 (2x4x8’s)
• 2 (1x2x8’s)
• White Gloss Polycyclic Water Based Sealant
• Dark Oak Stain
• 1.5 inch Kreg Screws
• 2.5 inch Wood Scews

Directions:

First, build your support frame for the bottom of the farmhouse computer desk. These will have cute criss crossing boards that really give it that old world farmhouse feel.

Then to really give your DIY farmhouse computer desk a real farmhouse look you give it a couple of coats of rustic shabby chic chalk paint, (Annie Sloan Paint is excellent for this).

Then the crowning glory of this desk is the beautiful dark stained top. The dark stained wood looks so awesome when contrasting the white chalk painted base.

This is a super project and my daughter is going to love it!
