If you are looking for a DIY flooring idea that has the look of real wood without the price try this DIY Faux Wood Flooring made with ordinary brown craft paper. So if you want to rip out your old carpet but don’t have the money to install hardwood flooring and still want the warm look of wood tones this is an excellent alternative. By using this simple technique you can give your floors a faux leather look in beautiful wood tones and it’s really cheap too! You can do a DIY Brown Paper Floor for about Fifty Cents a square foot! I couldn’t wait to start this project and the very first thing I did was prep my paper.

Materials:

  • One Small Garbage Can
  • One Gallon Elmer’s Glue All
  • One Gallon Of Water
  • One Large Clean Paint Brush
  • Polyurethane
  • Mixing Bucket
  • Scissors

Directions:

Get a couple of big rolls of brown craft paper from Michael’s Craft Store (use the 40% off coupons that are available online every day). Tear the paper jaggedly in about (1′ x 1′) squares, slightly rumpling them as you go.

Then mix your Elmer’s Glue All with a small amount of water in your bucket until the mixture resembles a heavy cream consistency.

Then brush the glue onto your paper pieces and glue down, there really is no right or wrong way to lay down the pattern, it will be random and overlapping, that is part of the charm of this awesome DIY floor.

Then you let your floor completely dry and cover with about 5 coats of Polyurethane and you are done!

Since I lover experiments, I’ve alwaysnloved to create, paint, as well as cook and style food. I feel in love with DIY as soon as I discovered it and could not have been more excited when I learned I could share projects with people around the world. Taking photos is a passion of mine, as is design and painting with oils. I love holidays and celebrations, crafting cute little gifts and serving up at least one new recipe I am excited about.
